Who we are

Capital Church operates the Service to care for our community — coordinating prayer, pastoral care, gifts, and practical support. You can reach us any time at care@capitalchurch.com.

Information we collect

We only collect what we need to care for you well:

• Contact details you give us — your name, email address, phone number, and the campus you attend.
• Your request — the prayer request or care need you describe, and your preferences (whether you’d like a follow-up, and how visible the request should be).
• Consent records — if you opt in to text messages, we record that you did and when, as proof of your consent.
• Messages — the content of texts and emails you exchange with our care team through the Service.
• Basic technical data — limited information (such as an IP address used for spam protection on our public form) needed to keep the Service secure.

How we use your information

We use your information only to:

• Pray for you and respond to your prayer request or care need.
• Follow up with you by text, email, phone, or in person if you asked us to.
• Coordinate care among our pastoral staff and trusted care volunteers.
• Keep the Service secure and prevent abuse.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Text messaging (SMS) program

If you check the consent box on our prayer request form and provide your mobile number, you agree to receive text messages from Capital Church about your prayer request and care — such as follow-up, encouragement, and coordinating support. Consent is not a condition of receiving prayer or care; you can always ask us to reach you another way.

• Message frequency varies based on your conversation with our care team.
• Message and data rates may apply. These are set by your mobile carrier, not by Capital Church.
• Opt out any time by replying STOP to any text. You will receive a confirmation and no further messages. Reply HELP for help, or contact us at care@capitalchurch.com.
• Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

We do not share your mobile opt-in or consent with anyone. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are never shared with any third parties.

Email

When you give us your email, we use it to reply to your request, confirm we received it, and follow up on your care. Confirmation and care emails are sent through our email provider on our behalf. We do not sell your email address or use it for marketing lists. Every email we send is tied to the care you asked for; if you’d rather we stop emailing you, just tell us at care@capitalchurch.com.

Who can see your information

Your name and contact details are seen only by our pastoral staff and the trusted care volunteers helping with your request. Prayer volunteers see a short summary of your request so they can pray for you — not your full contact details. We share information with service providers only so the Service can function:

• Planning Center — our church database, where your record may be stored so our team can care for you over time.
• Twilio — delivers our text messages (subject to the sharing limits above; opt-in data is not shared for marketing).
• Our email provider — delivers our email on our behalf.

These providers act on our instructions and are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of a person.

How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as needed to care for you and to keep an appropriate record of the care we’ve provided, and no longer than necessary. You can ask us to delete your information at any time, and we will do so unless we’re required to keep it.

Your choices

You can, at any time:

• Reply STOP to opt out of texts.
• Ask us to stop emailing or calling you.
• Ask what information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it.

Just email care@capitalchurch.com and we’ll take care of it.

Children

The Service is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including limiting who on our team can see it. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat what you share with us as the sensitive, personal matter it is.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the effective date above. Significant changes will be communicated where appropriate.
